Clothing and Footwear

All clothing should be weather dependent as you will not need a sweatshirt in July.

  • Change of clothing for sleep
  • Extra socks (a pair for each day of hiking and a pair for sleep)
  • Underwear
  • Change of t-shirt
  • Change of pants (if possible these pants should not be blue jeans as they are not recommended for hiking)
  • Cold weather gear (Jacket/Sweater, Ski Cap, Gloves.  All weather dependant)
  • Long-sleeve shirt (at least one; for sun, bugs)

Items to remember when Packing

  • WATERPROOF YOUR GEAR. A wet sleeping bag is not a comfortable option. Trash bags and resealable zip lock style bags work great.
  • Check and double check before you pack. Doing a layout today will save you from a missing item tomorrow
  • If you do not have any of the gear above, check with leadership before purchase.
  • Coordinate with a buddy.  A 6 pound tent split between two Scouts is easier to carry.
  • Take care of your feet and areas that sweat.   Make sure you keep your feet dry on the trail along with any other areas that may become irritated from sweat and friction
