Packing List

Troop Nine-Four activities vary greatly from one event to another. The list below provides some suggestions to use as a guide for packing. However, Scouts should use their judgment to tailor this list for a particular event. If clarification is needed, their patrol leader is probably the best person to ask.

TEN ESSENTIALS + 1 (Daypack to be packed with the following)

  • Pocket Knife or Multi-Tool (folding knife; less than 6”)
  • Sun Protection – Hat/Sun Block/Sunglasses
  • First Aid Kit
  • Extra clothing (one set; shirt, shorts, underwear, socks)
  • Rain Gear – Rain Jacket or Poncho
  • Water Bottle
  • Flashlight
  • Trail Food – Trail Meal/Snacks
  • Fire Starting Material – Flint & Steel/Matches Compass
  • DEODORANT (We will be the best smelling Troop)

In and Around Camp

  • Sleeping bags
  • Sleeping pads
  • Camping Pillow – Optional
  • Daypack
  • Camp Chair – Optional
  • Headlamps (with extra batteries)
  • Lantern (optional; battery powered)
  • Fishing gear (Rod & Reel/Tackle) – Optional
  • Notepad, Pencil, & Pen
  • Watch

Clothing and Footwear

  • Scout Uniform
  • T-Shirts
  • Underwear
  • Shorts/Pants (Quick-drying pants/shorts encouraged; try to avoid jeans)
  • Long-sleeve shirt (at least one; for sun, bugs)
  • Sweater/Jacket
  • Boots or shoes (no open toe or open back shoes)
  • Socks (at least two pairs; synthetic or wool)
  • Sleepwear
  • Toilet paper
  • Lip balm
  • Insect repellent
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Wet-wipes
  • Prescription medications
